Oswestry – Beautiful Market Town
Markets in Oswestry date back some 800 years. The award winning Indoor Market is open each Wednesday, Friday and Saturday where you will find an eclectic mix of interesting shops and enjoy the market atmosphere of their Outdoor Street Markets held every Wednesday and Saturday. Their local Artisan Market is held on the last Friday of each month selling the best local produce from throughout the County. Cae Glas Park is widely recognised as the local jewel in the crown and throughout the year the gardens are a blaze of colour helping Oswestry to receive a Gold Award in each of the last 10 years from the National Heart of England in Bloom Awards. Through the summer a series of Sunday concerts are held in the bandstand and you can also enjoy some larger events from their amazing Food and Drink Festival in July to their Hot Air Balloon Carnival at the end of August.
The Oswestry Visitor & Exhibition Centre can be found on Castle View behind the beautiful Guildhall where the town museum is located, and the town itself boasts a fantastic café culture with many historic buildings as well as galleries and the steam train museum to explore. Steam engines run from the railway station most weekends during the summer. For more information go to www.visitoswestry.co.uk or call David Clough on 01691 680222
